Johnny’s Blitz Bar and Grill

“I gotta get their onion supplier”.
It was open mic night at Johnny’s Blitz in Westmont, IL which means we were treated to a rotating line-up of people who were really good at singing, or really good at playing an instrument, but not both at the same time.
Service was quick. Drink orders were taken almost before most of us had grabbed a seat and delivered in short order.
Burger baskets were delivered almost as quickly.
The pub fries received near universal praise. Crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside and full of flavor. Ketchup was not necessary.
Burgers were noted for being “meaty”, flavorful and fresh toppings with the thick cut of onion a particular highlight. Jah Jah thought his burger was oversalted and took exception to the use of iceberg lettuce. While most of us agreed the burgers were slightly overcooked, they were otherwise thick and juicy and flavorful with a good balance of meat to toppings to bun.
Overall rating was higher than average based on quick service, good selection of beverages, entertaining music and a few visits from the OG Johnny himself throughout the evening.
Johnny’s Blitz slogan is “Best Blues in the Burbs” and a strong contender for “Best Burgers in the Burbs” as they take our coveted top spot with an average burger rating of 4.4 from the Men of Kings Den.
